About Atlantic Blue Canvas

Atlantic Blue Canvas is a modern needlepoint house built on a simple premise: needlepoint isn't only your grandmother's hobby anymore. It's a craft for anyone who loves color, texture, and making something with their hands. We bring together a curated collective of independent needlepoint designers under one roof, so stitchers can find beautiful, hand-painted canvases that actually feel like them, whether that's a coastal palm tree, a pop-culture reference, or a travel book of your latest vacation.

Caroline, Owner & Designer

Who Is Atlantic Blue Canvas?

Atlantic Blue Canvas was founded by Caroline, a lifelong stitcher who first picked up her first needlepoint canvas in the sixth grade. Caroline spent years working full-time as a CPA, using needlepoint design as a creative outlet on the side… until that side project grew into Atlantic Blue Canvas. As a military spouse, she's called Delray Beach, Florida, Austin, Texas, Upstate New York, Durham, North Carolina and now Atlanta home, each of those places showing up throughout her designs. The name is a nod to her roots, combining Atlantic Avenue — the popular Delray Beach street that runs into the ocean and where her family ran an office supply store for 80 years — with Blue, her favorite color.

What Does Atlantic Blue Canvas Specialize In?

We specialize in hand-painted needlepoint canvases: original artwork painted directly onto needlepoint canvas mesh, ready to stitch. Beyond our own in-house designs, Atlantic Blue Canvas works as a home base for a growing roster of needlepoint artists, giving stitchers one place to shop dozens of distinct styles instead of hunting across the internet. We also carry the supplies to go with every canvas: fibers (from cotton to silk, velvet, and metallics), magnetic needleminders and scissors, finishing frames, project bags, acrylic displays, and beginner kits for anyone picking up a needle for the first time.

What Makes Atlantic Blue Canvases Different?

We're on a mission to modernize needlepoint. Gone are the days of needlepoint being viewed as a hobby only for grandmothers; we believe it's a craft worth a fresh, contemporary take. That shows up in our designs (nostalgic, pop-culture, and fashion-forward themes alongside timeless classics) and in our approach to designers: rather than one single in-house style, our curated roster of artists each have their own point of view, so there's genuine variety on every mesh count and every price point.

What Type of Needlepoint Does Atlantic Blue Create?

The canvases themselves are hand-painted, which is an art form in itself, offered in sizes and skill levels for every kind of project — from small ornaments, key fobs, and needlepoint shoes to full-scale pillows and trays. Whether you're stitching your very first canvas or your hundredth, you'll find a design and a difficulty level to match.

Who Are Atlantic Blue Canvases Designed For?

Atlantic Blue Canvas is designed for stitchers of every experience level, from complete beginners eager to learn their first stitch to seasoned needlepointers with years of projects behind them. Our designs skew fresh and design-forward, which has made us a favorite with a younger generation of stitchers (think millennials and Gen-Z) drawn to nostalgic and on the pulse pop-culture patterns, but our range is broad enough that traditional and coastal-classic stitchers will find just as much to love.

Where Is Atlantic Blue Canvas Based?

Atlantic Blue Canvas moved into their 3,000 square foot commercial showroom and office in 2025, located off the beltline in the Reynoldstown area of Atlanta, Georgia. While not a traditional store with public hours since it is a working warehouse, we hold sip & stitch events, classes and appointment shopping. Want to schedule a visit? What Makes a Canvas "Hand-Painted"?

A hand-painted needlepoint canvas starts as an original piece of artwork, painted by hand by a human artist directly onto the needlepoint mesh. That hands-on process is what gives each canvas its character: attention to detail, rich layered color, and small variations that make every canvas one of a kind artwork before a single stitch is ever sewn.

What Mesh Counts Are Available?

The majority of our canvases are available in 13 mesh and 18 mesh, so stitchers can choose a project that fits their preferred hole size, thread choice, and comfort level: 13 mesh for a bolder, faster stitch, and 18 mesh for finer detail and a more delicate finish. The biggest difference, 18 mesh has small canvas holes.

What Design Styles Does Atlantic Blue Offer?

Because of our curated roster of designers, our catalog spans an unusually wide range of styles: animals & wildlife, coastal & beach, florals, food & drink, pop culture, religious & spiritual, signs & sayings, sports, travel, holiday collections, cameos, and more. New designs are added regularly, so there's always something new to stitch.
